Tuberculin Test Conjunctival

The conjunctival tuberculin test is one of the methods for diagnosing ocular tuberculosis. It is carried out by injecting tuberculin into the conjunctiva of the eye and observing the reaction to this injection.

Tuberculin is an antigen that is obtained from Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It is used to diagnose tuberculosis of the eyes and other organs, as well as to determine the effectiveness of tuberculosis treatment.

To conduct a conjunctival tuberculin test, special instruments and materials are used. Before the procedure, it is necessary to prepare the patient, including cleansing the conjunctiva and instilling eye drops.

After preparing the patient, tuberculin is injected into the conjunctival sac. The reaction to the introduction of tuberculin can be different. In some cases it may be invisible, in others it may manifest itself in the form of redness, swelling and soreness in the eye area.

The response to the tuberculin test is assessed by an ophthalmologist. If the result is positive, additional examination and treatment are carried out.
