The leaves contain essential oil (up to 1.5%), the main components of which are gamma thujone and cineole, flavonoids, vitamins K and C. The leaves also contain alkaloids, wax, mucus, bitterness, tannins, phytosterols, saponins, macroelements, calcium , potassium, magnesium. In folk medicine, yarrow leaves have long been used externally for burns.
