Papilloma on the head is a neoplasm from the group of benign ones, which rarely degenerates into malignant. It is formed as a result of the negative impact on the body of a virus of the same name, which infects epithelial cells and triggers the process of formation of growths.
Why does papilloma appear on the head in the hair?
The appearance of papillomas on the head is facilitated by the active activity of HPV in the human body. Penetrating inside, it remains there forever and, if the immune system is not strong enough and there is no treatment, it provokes the appearance of growths.
The risk group includes people who have close contact with HPV carriers. It also includes pregnant women, children, and the elderly, whose immunity is often weakened.
After infection by the papilloma virus, months or years pass before it manifests itself. In people with good health, this may not happen at all if the immune system performs its protective functions normally.
The following factors contribute to the deterioration of immunity and, as a result, the appearance of papillomas on the head:
- Hormonal disorders. Papillomas on the head can appear in women with weak or excessive production of hormones by the reproductive ovaries, thyroid gland, and kidneys. This most often occurs during adolescence or menopause, when menstruation stops.
- Bad habits. People who abuse alcohol, are addicted to drugs and smoke tobacco are most likely to encounter papillomas on the head. Biting your lips and nails also does not lead to anything good, especially if your hands are dirty.
- Physical and emotional stress. The lack of proper rest, especially if a person is not engaged in mental work, exhausts the body. As a result, it becomes more difficult for it to perform its protective functions and respond in time to an attack by viruses, including papillomas.
- Adverse environmental factors. Living in non-ecological areas can provoke the appearance of papillomas on the head, which negatively affects the immune system. Polluted air and water, a large number of oil refineries, paint and varnish and chemical plants - all this leaves an imprint on health.
- Various diseases. The likelihood of papilloma appearing on the head is higher in those who suffer from chronic gastritis, colitis, stomach or intestinal ulcers, and dysbacteriosis. Such problems lead to disruption of the gastrointestinal microflora, deterioration in the absorption of nutrients, the development of persistent immunodeficiency and, as a result, the formation of papilloma on the head in the hair.
- Taking antibiotics. Treatment for a short time under the supervision of a doctor does not harm, but long-term use of such drugs usually leads to disruption of the intestinal microflora. As a result, there is simply nothing to fight the virus, since the beneficial bacteria mostly die along with the pathogenic ones.
- Frequent colds. ARVI, which most often occurs in winter, late autumn or early spring, is very dangerous for the immune system. Sore throat, flu, tonsillitis, laryngitis, and pharyngitis also have a negative effect on it. These otolaryngological diseases weaken the body and reduce its level of resistance to the papilloma virus. He, in turn, actively influencing the cells, changes their structure, which triggers the process of formation of papillomas on the head in the hair, including on the head.
Papilloma on the head can appear due to poor nutrition, lack of useful substances in the diet - vitamins B12, B6, B1, C, A, E, iron, zinc and much more. Because of this, vitamin deficiency is formed, which, over a long period of time, contributes to the development of immunodeficiency and anemia.
Note! A person who has not been affected by the papilloma virus simply cannot develop the corresponding formations.- Read also about the causes of warts on the head

The formation here has the same appearance as in other areas of the face and body. It resembles a flat or filamentous plaque small in size - on average 0.6 cm. In rare cases, it occurs on the head condyloma acuminata, resembling a cockscomb. It rises above the skin and stands out sharply against the background of the hair. When caring for them (washing, cutting, combing), its integrity is often compromised. Because of this, the formation begins to bleed, the surrounding tissues become inflamed and irritated, and itching occurs. In addition to this, ulcers often form.
A characteristic difference between papilloma on the head in the hair is that here it grows mainly in the singular. It can be located closer to the ears or near the back of the head, on the front side, next to the forehead.
With light hair it is practically invisible from the outside, but in dark hair the growth is usually noticeable, and the less voluminous the hair, the faster it can be detected. In some cases, hair does not grow at the site of the papilloma.
