Umbilical

Umbilical hairs are thin and short, coarse hairs that appear on the human body in both men and women, up to the age of 2-3 years. The appearance of such hairs on the body occurs as a result of hormonal changes. Parents often associate hair loss with visiting a swimming pool or bathhouse - but this is also not the reason. Hair loss occurs because the hair follicle in a newborn is not yet fully formed; the root itself is not in the depths, but on the outside. When the child’s hormonal levels stabilize after birth, the hair follicles shorten again and return to normal. The hair thickens quickly and goes away on its own after a few years. Most often this occurs during adolescence.

The area where such hair appears is called, or sometimes - the area of youth, where the name comes from - umbilical, that is, located near the navel. This has its origin in connection with the history of its formation. In humans, including his ancestors, the skin from its very appearance is covered with thin hairs - fluff, which grow in the first days of our life and while we are still completely dependent on our parents, are located somewhere around the navel - these are the anatomical features of our skin. The navel area gradually becomes narrower and smooth hair disappears.

The umbilical hair roots retain their structure for a long time - which means we should not be afraid that this will result in a serious problem that can affect the overall hormonal balance of the body. When you have hair loss, the main thing is to prevent infection from getting into the wound. Under no circumstances should you scratch - otherwise new hair will not grow in this place. It itches - coarser hair appears there, which is less prone to hair loss. But sometimes you still have to get rid of such hairs - for example, when epilating or shaving.
