Lunar kerratosis is a rare and incurable skin disease that is accompanied by thickening and keratinization of the skin. It mainly affects women over 50 years of age. The disease received the name “lunar” due to the fact that it affects mainly women, and is especially common in the postpartum period.

How does lunar keartosis manifest? The roots of the disease often begin with abnormal hair growth. Lunar keratosis may be accompanied by the appearance of follicular papules (primary changes), skin thickening, peeling, discoloration and damage to the hair, as well as scar formation (secondary changes). Papules and lumps can be located on any areas of the body where there are hair follicles, for example: on the neck, forehead, eyelids, eyebrows, shoulders, forearms, hands and soles of the feet.
