The Erisman index (EI) is an indicator used to assess population health and prevent infectious diseases. It is based on the amount of contact between people in certain living and working settings, such as the workplace or on public transport.

The history of the creation of this index is associated with the name of Friedrich Ferdinand Daniel Ernst Eisenlohr, a German hygienist and scientist known for his work on the epidemiology and prevention of infectious diseases.

In 1980, Erisman created a group of experts who developed an index called the Erisman Index (EI). The purpose of creating this index was not only to identify the risks of infection transmission, but also to develop measures to prevent their spread.

Main elements of the index:

1. Resources - resources available to prevent infections (eg public transport infrastructure, availability of hand washing areas). 2. Living conditions - the living conditions of people (for example, workplaces, homes, public places). 3. Community - a community of people with a level of risk of infection (for example, unemployed
