Urethroplasty

Urethroplasty is an operation to restore the lumen of the urethra. In the surgical treatment of urethral diseases, two groups of operations are distinguished: plastic and reconstructive. Plastic surgery for diseases of the urethra is aimed at restoring the total length of the urethral canal, i.e., the diameter of the urethral opening; the dimensions necessary to restore the lumen are sutured with continuous sutures to the entire depth of the wound (the full thickness of the urethra). Reconstructive surgeries are aimed at correcting the anatomy of the distal urethra, bladder wall, or lower urinary tract. In this article we will look at plastic surgery – urethroplasty.

**Indications for urethrostenosis.** * Acute and chronic nonspecific chronic urethroprostatitis. * Traumatic lesions of the urethra.

**Urethroplasty for carcinoma.** In this case, the possibility of restoring urination and full erection is determined not only by the size of the tumor, but also by the depth of invasion, the absence of metastases, the ratio of the tumor to the pubic symphysis
