“The uterus is the most important organ in the female body, which ensures the development and bearing of a child. It is a unique organ that has its own characteristics and functions. In this article we will look at the characteristics of the uterus, its structure, functions and diseases associated with it.”

A woman's body consists of several important organs, one of which is the uterus. The uterus is a woman's reproductive organ located in the lower part of the body. The importance of the uterus for the female body lies in the fact that it performs a number of functions aimed at preserving life and pregnancy. However, despite the fact that the uterus is an important organ, it is also susceptible to some diseases and pathologies.

The structure of the uterus The female uterus has the shape of a cone, inside of which there is a cavity filled with blood. The average weight of the uterus in women is about 50 grams. It consists of three layers: the inner layer, the middle layer (muscle tissue) and the outer layer (serous membrane). The uterus has two openings: one uterine, through which the embryo can penetrate, and a second opening, called cervical, for the fetus to exit. The length of the uterine cavity is approximately 7 to 8 centimeters. Inside the uterine cavity there are muscles that provide contraction of the organ for contractions during childbirth. Also, the walls of the uterus are equipped with vessels, nerves and ligaments that determine its shape and function. Functions of the uterus The main function of the uterus is to release a fertilized egg. During normal fertilization, conception occurs in the fallopian tubes, after which the egg enters the uterine cavity and attaches to its wall. The uterus also performs functions such as the accumulation of menstrual blood, which comes out during menstruation. During pregnancy, the uterus increases in size, increasing internal volume and providing space for the fetus to grow. Diseases and pathologies of the uterus Unfortunately, the uterus is not ideal and sometimes suffers. Some diseases can be caused by improper functioning of the uterus or infections. Therefore, it is important to know about the signs of diseases in order to promptly seek help from specialists. First of all, it is worth mentioning the threat of miscarriage. This may happen because the cervix does not dilate properly or opens too early. In this case, the birth membrane of the fetus may be damaged, and the child may die. For this reason, pregnant women need to carefully monitor their health, undergo examinations by a gynecologist and consult with specialists. Problems with the menstrual cycle, spotting, abdominal pain, fever and bleeding may occur. These symptoms may indicate the presence of certain uterine diseases, such as endometriosis
