Uveitis

Uveitis is an inflammation of one part or the entire choroid of the eye. The causes of inflammation can be viral diseases (toxoplasmosis, CMV), diseases of other organs (rheumatoid arthritis, syphilis, tuberculosis).

How to recognize?

The first symptoms of uveitis are subtle - usually vision becomes slightly blurry, and black spots may appear in front of the eyes. Later, severe pain, redness of the whites of the eyes, and increased sensitivity to light appear. The final diagnosis is made by the doctor after examination.

Why is it dangerous?

The disease can progress and be accompanied by severe complications such as glaucoma, cataracts and retinal detachment.

How to treat?

To treat uveitis, hormonal drugs and medications that dilate the pupil are prescribed. Antibacterial agents or antibiotics are also used, depending on the cause of uveitis.

Inflammation of the uveal tract of the eye. Uveitis is divided into anterior (iritis, iridocyclitis) and posterior (choroiditis, chorioretinitis), acute and chronic, serous and plastic.
