Nose cushion

The nasal ridge (lat. agger nasi) is a small elevation located along the midline of the nasal septum. Formed by cartilage and bone.

The nasal ridge starts from the anterior edge of the nasal septum and extends back to the base of the skull. It divides the nasal cavity into two parts - the right and left turbinates.

In some people, the nasal ridge may be overdeveloped, leading to a deviated nasal septum and difficulty breathing through the nose. This condition is called nasal hypertrophy and often requires surgical correction.

The nasal ridge plays an important role in the structure and function of the nose. The correct structure of the cushion promotes normal air flow in the nasal passages and effective filtration of inhaled air.
