Veins Musculodiaphragmatic

Concepts Muscular veins, or diaphragmatic (musculophrenici, pna; bna), are groups of veins that drain blood from the diaphragm and the muscles located in it. Despite the fact that the muscular veins are very poorly developed, their existence is largely due to the need for active work of the chest muscles during inhalation and exhalation in humans and animals. With prolonged absence of breathing due to injury to the anterior part of the chest or impaired muscle function, they either quickly disappear and are replaced by collaterals or merge with other veins.

The largest number of branches of these veins passes through the diaphragm. Thus, the esophageal veins connect with the medial heads of the muscular veins of the left and right sectors. The esophagus itself also lies on the anterior wall of these veins
