Dosage forms: solution for injection 100mg/5ml, solution for injection 100mg

Composition: Active ingredient - Iron(III)-hydroxide sucrose complex.

Indications for use: Iron deficiency anemia due to impaired absorption of iron from the gastrointestinal tract, insufficient effectiveness or intolerance to oral iron preparations.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to mono- or disucrose iron complexes; anemia not associated with iron deficiency; signs of oversaturation of the body with iron or impairment of its utilization.

Side effect:

  1. From the nervous system and sensory organs: less than 1% - headache, paresthesia.

  2. From the cardiovascular system and blood (hematopoiesis, hemostasis): less than 1% - hypotension.

  3. From the gastrointestinal tract: less than 1% - nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, metallic taste in the mouth.

  4. From the musculoskeletal system: less than 1% - muscle pain.

  5. Other: pain, redness and swelling may occur at the injection site, as well as the development of phlebitis.

Interaction: Should not be prescribed simultaneously with dosage forms of iron for oral administration (the absorption of iron from the gastrointestinal tract is reduced).

Overdose: No information.

Special instructions:

  1. You can only mix it with saline solution in one syringe.

  2. Precautions: Not intended for intramuscular administration. It is also not permissible to administer a full dose, i.e. a dose that would completely compensate for the lack of iron in the patient’s body, in the form of a one-time infusion.

  3. Prescribe with caution to patients with severe liver dysfunction, bronchial asthma, acute and chronic infections, and a history of allergic diseases.

  4. In the case of the development of moderately severe allergic reactions, the use of antihistamines is recommended; in the case of the development of a severe allergic reaction, the urgent administration of adrenaline.

  5. It is necessary to avoid damaging the vessel wall with the needle and penetrating the perivenous space.
