The hepatic efferent vein (v.h.r.) refers to the left vena cava; it further divides into the right and left gastric veins. The latter accompanies the liver both in front and behind and most often flows into the cob vein. Another hepatic outlet branch begins at the diaphragmatic end of the right border of the liver and continues as the hepatoduodenal vein.
