Vero-Simvastatin

Vero-Simvastatin is a lipid-lowering drug that is used to lower blood cholesterol levels. It belongs to the class of HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, which are the main drugs for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia. The drug is produced in Russia by Veropharm, Belgorod and Ocasa Pharma.

The action of Vero-Simvastatin is based on reducing the synthesis of cholesterol in the liver, which leads to a decrease in the level of total cholesterol and low-density lipoproteins (LDL) in the blood. This helps reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases such as myocardial infarction and stroke.

The drug is available in the form of film-coated tablets containing 10 or 20 mg of simvastatin. It is taken orally once a day, usually in the evening, with meals.

Indications for the use of Vero-Simvastatin include hypercholesterolemia in the absence of effect from diet therapy, combined hypercholesterolemia and triglyceridemia, coronary heart disease, prevention of myocardial infarction and stroke, atherosclerosis.

Contraindications to the use of Vero-Simvastatin include hypersensitivity to simvastatin, acute liver dysfunction, severe renal failure, pregnancy, breastfeeding and childhood.

Adverse effects may include dyspeptic symptoms, diarrhea, flatulence, nausea, increased transaminase levels, central nervous system disorders, myalgia, asthenia, myopathy, rhabdomyolysis, photosensitivity and allergic reactions.

Interaction of Vero-Simvastatin with other drugs may lead to increased effects or an increased risk of adverse events. For example, immunosuppressive therapy, high doses of nicotinic acid and azole derivative antifungals (ketoconazole, itraconazole) may increase the risk of developing myopathy and rhabdomyolysis.

In case of an overdose of Vero-Simvastatin, it is necessary to induce vomiting, prescribe activated charcoal and monitor the functions of the liver, kidneys, respiration, cardiovascular system and the level of creatine kinase in the blood serum.

Before starting and during treatment, it is recommended to monitor liver function and use Vero-Simvastatin with caution in patients with impaired liver function. It is also recommended to avoid drinking large amounts of alcohol while taking the drug, as this may increase the risk of side effects on the liver.

In general, Vero-Simvastatin is an effective and safe drug for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia and the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, subject to recommended dosages and conditions of use. However, like any other medicine, it must be taken only as prescribed by a doctor and under his supervision.
