Vero-Verapamil

adrenergic blockers, antiarrhythmic drugs, antihypertensive drugs, nitrates.

Vero-Verapamil is one of the representatives of the group of calcium channel blockers of the phenylalkylamine group. The active substance - Verapamil - has a pronounced antiarrhythmic, antianginal and antihypertensive effect.

The drug is widely used in cardiology for the treatment of various diseases of the cardiovascular system, such as paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia, sinus tachycardia, atrial extrasystole, atrial fibrillation and flutter, angina (including Prinzmetal, tension, post-infarction), arterial hypertension, hypertensive crisis , idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

However, like any other drug, Vero-Verapamil has its contraindications and side effects. Contraindications include hypersensitivity to the drug, severe hypotension, cardiogenic shock, AV block II and III degrees, myocardial infarction, chronic heart failure stage III, WPW syndrome and sick sinus syndrome, sinoatrial block, Morgagni-Adams-Stokes syndrome, digitalis intoxication, severe stenosis of the aortic mouth, pregnancy and breastfeeding.

In addition, Vero-Verapamil can cause side effects such as hypotension, bradycardia (sinus), AV block, heart failure, headache, dizziness, nervousness, lethargy, drowsiness, weakness, fatigue, paresthesia, nausea, dyspeptic symptoms, constipation, gingival hyperplasia, increased activity of liver transaminases, alkaline phosphatase, skin rash, urticaria, itching, angioedema, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, facial flushing, bronchospasm and peripheral edema.

When using Vero-Verapamil, it is necessary to take into account possible interactions with other drugs. For example, the drug increases the plasma levels of digoxin, cyclosporine, theophylline, carbamazepine, and reduces the level of lithium. Also, Vero-Verapamil can weaken the anticoagulant effect of warfarin, increase the toxicity of antidepressants and antiarrhythmic drugs, and reduce the effectiveness of beta-blockers.

When prescribing Vero-Verapamil, caution must be exercised in patients with impaired liver and/or renal function, as well as in cases of hypotonic reactions to drugs.

Like any other drug, Vero-Verapamil should be prescribed only by a doctor and only after a thorough analysis of the patient’s condition and the presence of contraindications. The dosage of the drug should be individual and adjusted depending on the effectiveness of treatment and tolerability of the drug.
