Vipsogal: ointment for the treatment of chronic dermatoses
Vipsogal is a combination drug, which is an ointment for external use. It is produced in Yugoslavia at the ICN Galenika plant and at the Tallinn Pharmaceutical Plant in Estonia. The international name of the drug is Vipsogal.
The main active ingredient of Vipsogal is betamethasone dipropionate, a glucocorticosteroid that has a pronounced anti-inflammatory and antiallergic effect. The ointment also contains fluocinonade, gentamicin sulfate, salicylic acid and panthenol.
Vipsogal is used to treat various chronic dermatoses, such as psoriasis and psorpazoform dermatoses, as well as dysplastic dermatoses. However, you should not use Vipsogal if you have skin tuberculosis, skin manifestations of syphilis, viral and fungal skin lesions, pregnancy, under the age of 14 years, and with hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
Side effects may occur when using Vipsogal ointment. Some of them include hypersensitivity reactions, photosensitivity, skin atrophy, rosacea and steroid acne, and a decrease in the protective properties of the skin. It is also not recommended to use Vipsogal simultaneously with medications containing salicylic acid.
When using Vipsogal ointment, special precautions should be taken. The drug should not come into contact with the eyes and mucous membranes. If the disease is very widespread, you should not use the ointment on all affected areas at the same time, or with an occlusive dressing.
