Xanthopsia

Xanthopsia (Greek χαντόψια) is a visual sensation that occurs in the absence of light and is caused by an increased content of bile pigments (pigment spots) in the eye or a general disorder of bilirubin metabolism in the human body. In the second case, a physiological effect is possible - xanthopsia from a combination of weak signals from the bile duct system (from the gallbladder system) with a slight darkening of the organs of vision. Usually accompanied by discomfort and headache. Unlike light hallucinations of a “hallucinogenic” nature, xanthopsia is actually a pathological process, since it signals the pathology of the body.

If any symptoms appear, you should immediately consult a doctor who can prescribe the necessary treatment. However, if such a condition occurs in people who abuse alcohol or take certain medications, then you should definitely inform your doctor about this, and sometimes call an ambulance.
