Defense Reactions of the Body

Throughout human history, there have been times when man had to fight for his survival. The body's defense response is a process that allows us to stay alive and function in conditions that may pose a threat. In this article we will look at the body's defense responses and their importance to our well-being.

Defensive reactions



The body's defensive reactions are reflex or humoral processes aimed at maintaining homeostasis (balance in the body) and protection from pathogenic influences.

The body's defensive reactions can be of two types: - Reflex reactions occur automatically and do not require much stress on the part of the body. They quickly provide a natural response to stress, sudden tissue damage or other intense impacts. Examples of reflexive protective reactions include rolling the eyelids when dust or other particles enter the eyes, and gag when poisoned or in a potentially dangerous situation. - Humoral defense reactions involve the interaction of many different substances
