Dosage forms: effervescent tablets
Composition: Active substance - Iron gluconate.

Indications for use:

  1. Iron deficiency anemia (prevention and treatment)
  2. Increased need of the body for iron (pregnancy, lactation, period of growth and development)

Contraindications:

  1. Hypersensitivity (including to other iron preparations)
  2. Hemochromatosis
  3. Hemosiderosis
  4. Hemolytic anemia

Side effect:

  1. Dyspeptic symptoms (nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea)
  2. Skin hyperemia, dizziness, back or abdominal pain
  3. Difficulty breathing, transient decrease in blood pressure

Interaction:

  1. Interferes with the absorption of tetracyclines (they should be prescribed at least 2 hours apart before or after taking iron gluconate)
  2. Eggs, milk, tea, antacids interfere with the absorption of iron from the gastrointestinal tract

Overdose:

  1. Abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, gastrointestinal irritation (including necrosis)
  2. Lethargy, weak pulse, hypotension

Special instructions:

  1. Prescribed with caution for peptic ulcers, enteritis, ulcerative colitis
  2. Iron supplements darken stool and may mask hidden bleeding.
