Thrush

Thrush is another name for candidiasis.

Candidiasis is a fungal infection of the mucous membranes and skin caused by yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida. The most common pathogen is Candida albicans.

Candidiasis can affect the mucous membranes of the oral cavity, esophagus, gastrointestinal tract, respiratory tract, and genitourinary system. Damage to the skin and its appendages is also possible.

With oral candidiasis (thrush), white plaques consisting of clusters of fungi appear on the mucous membrane. Characterized by burning and pain when swallowing.

Treatment of thrush consists of prescribing antifungal drugs - both locally and systemically. It is also important to eliminate factors that contribute to the development of candidiasis.



Thrush or candidiasis is a disorder of the vaginal microflora. The causative agents belong to yeast fungi - candida, opportunistic pathogens that are constantly present on the mucous membranes of the vagina in small quantities.

Thrush can occur in both women and men. There are many reasons for this disease:

- decreased immunity - long-term use of antibiotics - termination of pregnancy - long-term treatment with corticosteroids - stress - climate change - eating large amounts of sweets - synthetic underwear - poor hygiene -
