Goiter Hiding

Lurking goiter - (syn. lurking goiter) is a disease of the digestive organs, characterized by the formation of a double pouch in the upper part of the stomach.

Hiding goiter is a fairly rare disease. A “weakly expressed” goiter is more common. Symptoms of the disease: With a hidden goiter, general symptoms are usually observed:

- severe weakness; - frequent hiccups; - chronic nausea or vomiting; - difficulty swallowing. - There is another feature: after eating, the patient does not feel full for a long time if the portion size is large. The patient also has problems with the absorption of certain food components. This can lead to various digestive disorders.

Symptoms upon manifestation: * in case of “hidden” goiter: there is a feeling of bloating in the mouth; it is painful for the patient to eat while lying down; the empty space, which is then filled with food, is soft. If a person feels discomfort when eating cold foods, then this is also a symptom;

*when suffering from a goiter “weakly located”: this condition is characterized by an acute manifestation of symptoms, in which acute pain occurs in the chest, the patient even loses consciousness. In this case, the patient does not experience nausea or vomiting. If the disease has spread to the intestinal mucosa, the patient experiences frequent loose stools and blood is present in the stool; The patient's condition sharply worsens and dehydration develops. Treatment of the disease: Using ultrasound, the doctor determines how severe the disease is. As an additional diagnostic method, FGDS is sometimes used. Next, the causes of the disease are determined. There are several methods for treating this pathology. Therapeutic methods are aimed at treating the underlying pathology that caused the development of goiter. If the cause is intestinal atony, drugs that activate peristalsis are prescribed, for example, platiphylline, belladonna, aceclidine. Anal massage also has a good stimulating effect. In case of hemorrhoidal bleeding, Hepatrombin ointment is prescribed. The surgical method is also used. But it is often invasive. The surgical method has one noticeable advantage: it prevents the consequences of other treatment methods. One of the disadvantages is postoperative pain syndrome.
