Zolfine

Zolfin: first generation cefazolin from India

Zolfin, also known as cefazolin, is a pharmaceutical drug belonging to the group of first-generation cephalosporins. It is manufactured in India by Ipka Laboratories Ltd and is widely used in medical practice to combat infections.

Cefazolin, or Zolfin, is presented in powder form for the preparation of an injection solution. Its active substance is cefazolin. The drug is used to treat various infections, such as respiratory tract infections, septicemia, endocarditis, osteomyelitis, wound infections, infected burns, peritonitis, urinary and biliary tract infections.

However, it is important to consider contraindications to the use of Zolfin. It is not recommended in case of hypersensitivity to other beta-lactam antibiotics, or during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Before using the drug, you should discuss possible risks and side effects with your doctor.

Side effects of Zolfin may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, pain in the epigastric region, as well as other reactions from the gastrointestinal tract. Increased concentrations of liver enzymes in the blood, changes in blood composition, allergic manifestations and reactions at the injection site may also be observed.

The interaction of Zolfin with other drugs should also be taken into account. Probenecid, for example, may slow the excretion of cefazolin and promote its accumulation in the body.

Particular caution should be exercised when using Zolfin in patients with severe renal impairment or diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. It is also not recommended to take this drug simultaneously with oral anticoagulants and diuretics, such as furosemide and ethacrynic acid.

Zolfin, or cefazolin, is an important drug in the treatment of infections, especially in India where it is produced. However, before using this drug, it is important to consult your doctor and read the instructions for use to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the treatment.
