“It’s written all over your face!” - you have heard this phrase more than once. Indeed, it is easy to understand a person’s emotions by looking at their face. And anime heroes are no exception. Some authors focus on realism, while others “play” with animation in order to make even the most callous viewer smile. If you like this kind of humor, then you will definitely like this list.
1. Let's play / Asobi Asobase
As soon as you look at the plot or a few promo screenshots, you will immediately understand that this is another anime about cute girls from the everyday genre. It is also a comedy anime, with much of the humor coming from the characters' emotions. Hard comedy against the backdrop of nice girls fits in perfectly here.
2. Doll Festival / Hinamatsuri
This series has become a favorite not only for its characters and plot, but also for its humor in general. If it weren't for the characters' faces, you wouldn't find anything funny in some episodes.
3. My Hero Academy / Boku no Hero Academia
This anime has gained popularity for its vibrant battles, which appear a little later. However, Deku's face evokes a lot of emotion at the beginning of the anime. Unfortunately, over the course of the series there are fewer and fewer humorous faces, but they still pop up from time to time.
4. Gintama / Gintama
The lion's share of unusual facial expressions comes from Gintoki himself, but other characters are no exception. Since the show has a lot of parodies, you may come across a lot of familiar facial expressions. However, some of them are works of art in themselves.
5. One Piece
One of the reasons why some people can't get through One Piece (besides the length and number of episodes) is the art. You will immediately say that the characters are somehow abnormal. They seem to be made of plasticine, especially when it comes to their emotions. Shock, surprise, disgust - everything is done with a certain touch of frivolity.
6. Great Teacher Onizuka
This anime belongs to the genre of comedy, drama, and everyday life. In the most intense moments, Onizuka can pull off a face that will make you fall out of your chair.
7. It's not my fault that I'm not popular! / Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui!
When watching “It’s Not My Fault That I’m Not Popular!” you may become uncomfortable with the heroine’s behavior, because many moments will seem very life-like and will remind you of yourself. To create such an awkward atmosphere, authors often rely on the characters' unusual facial expressions.
8. Little things in life / Nichijou
The art in "Little Things in Life" is very simple, so much so that you might even forget that it is computer animation. The peculiarity is that the character’s face can be completely ordinary or incredibly realistic at one moment.
9. Sea Bride / Seto no Hanayome
Perhaps the characters in this anime do not have the most original facial expressions, but they are completely different. You definitely can't go wrong by paying attention to this comedy.
10. Vast Ocean / Grand Blue
Excellent jokes and humorous faces are all you need for a good comedy.
11. Golden Deity / Golden Kamuy
Considering that The Golden Deity seems like a serious anime at the beginning, you will be surprised to find funny episodes later on. You will be especially delighted by the facial expressions of the heroine Asirpa, because you will least expect this from her.

I've seen this expression probably dozens of times in anime and manga. There are many variations, but all have the character's tongue sticking out of the side of his mouth. Their eyes tend to be large and sometimes shaped like a backwards character, or sometimes wink. Here are a few examples, although there are many more:
Bakemonogatari:
Clannad:
Tonari no Kashiwagi-san:
What is the origin of these expressions? Do they have a specific art style or character in mind?
Answers
All of these faces are direct parodies of Fuji's forever 6-year-old mascot, Peko-chan:
Created in the 1950s, Peko-chan is probably the most recognizable character in the Japanese confectionery world.
In Japan, sticking out your tongue can be used to express feelings of embarrassment at making a mistake. Often this means being childish and being considered cute. There are no conclusive links linking the behavior to the Fuji mascot, but some believe the behavior is popularized by children imitating Peko-chan.
For me, the photos of Clannad and Tonari no Kashiwagi-san at least show more of a "delicious!" attitude. / "Fine!" Expression: Tongue sticking out is just someone licking their lips to get all the remaining sauce/flavor, and this is enhanced by a hand gesture showing appreciation.
