Kiehl's Rare Earth Pore Cleansing Masque September 4, 2017
Manufacturer's promises: Enriched with Amazonian clay, the mask effectively cleanses pores and promotes their noticeable narrowing, helps remove dead cells from the skin surface, and reduces oily shine.
The mask is in a plastic jar with a screw cap and a protective membrane. The consistency of the mask is light gray, dense, but very plastic. The aroma is not bright, cosmetic. It dries out on the skin after a while, but it doesn’t dry out like many clay masks. The mask cleanses and brightens pores well, evens out skin tone. The mask is easily washed off with water without additional products. The consumption is very economical. The mask did not cause any irritation on my skin.
Masha Botvinina and Lena Loginova study clay masks with different properties and compare their impressions.
Initially, Masha was going to test all the masks alone. And I tested it. But then I thought that her skin was too oily, and she needed someone else for a more objective test. Therefore, having tasted enough, Masha carefully handed over all the jars to the renowned authority on problem skin - Lena Loginova.
Mask-scrub Exfoliating Multi-Use Clay, Diptyque
Promises: in addition to kaolin, it contains natural apricot kernel oil, which should nourish, moisturize and start the regeneration process. In addition, the mask contains marble powder to remove dead skin cells. And if you add tonic, the clay base turns into a milky emulsion. By the way, Lena K loves this mask.
Lena Loginova (combination skin, prone to oily skin, sensitive, previously problematic):
- Ta-dam, it’s done! The first clay mask that not only does not dry out, but also moisturizes. I really like the effect: you wash it off and the skin is polished, fresh and soft. Of the minuses: strong fragrance - Exfoliating Multi-Use Clay noticeably smells like apricot. At first it seems cool, but then you walk for 10-15 minutes and smell, and smell, and smell. But this is a subjective disadvantage: I am a well-known dislike of strong fragrances in skin care products. And the objective minus is very large abrasive particles. Personally, they don’t scratch or irritate my skin, but I dread to imagine what could happen on a more sensitive or blemished face.
Masha Botvinina (normal skin, but sensitive, prone to dehydration and redness, with black dots on the nose):
“I’m used to clay masks hardening into a thick layer after application, and this is a signal that it’s time to wash it off. So, this one doesn’t freeze, no matter how long you wait. It contains a lot of small, but very sharp particles - it felt like I was washing my face with sandpaper. The result, of course, is good - the skin is smooth and polished, but I’m not ready to repeat the experience again. The smell, compared to the sensations, did not impress me at all.

Маска для очищения пор с амазонской белой глиной Rare Earth Pore Cleansing Masque, Kiehl’s
Состав: Water, Kaolin, Bentonite, Propanediol, Glycerin, Titanium Dioxide, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetearyl Alcohol, Corn Starch, Phenoxyethanol, Ceterath-20, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Tocopherol, Lecithin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Oat Kernel Flour, Allantoin.
Маска для лица с термальной глиной против морщин Nourishing Anti-Wrinkle Thermal Spring Mud Face Mask, Frais Monde Terme di Repole
— The main advantage of this mask, in my opinion, is that it cleanses and invigorates the skin quite well (I appreciated it after parties), although this is not stated. But I just didn’t notice the promised food. Otherwise, it's great: a very pleasant texture, like light yogurt or melting cream. It applies thinly (from which I conclude that it will be used economically and will last for a long time), has a slight smell - this is what my mother’s creams smelled like when I was 8 years old, so I’m just nostalgic -) I think it’s suitable for frequent use because its soft influence. I recommend it to those with sensitive skin - the mask is so gentle that it is unlikely to cause irritation.
Masha Botvinina (normal skin, but sensitive, prone to dehydration and redness, with black dots on the nose):
— A very unusual texture for clay masks - light, even a little liquid. And the color is still such a grassy green - in the best traditions of cinema, when you need to photograph a lady at her evening dress (where is my turban and pink robe?) The mask is difficult to apply in a thick layer - it tends to spread between your fingers. It hardens quickly and you can even see how it sinks into the pores.
The mask is declared as anti-aging, so you shouldn’t expect it to deeply cleanse pores and get rid of blackheads. But I liked the effect: wrinkles (and I have facial wrinkles on my forehead) became a little less noticeable, the skin was soft and the complexion was more even, looking fresh. Like. I'll clean my pores with something else.

Kiehl's / Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque / Amazonian White Clay, Oat and Aloe Vera Pore Cleansing Mask
The weather just can’t get into its seasonal course and doesn’t give us enough sunshine to show off the summer shades of polishes, so I have enough time to tell you about my skincare products that I spent the winter with. Today on the agenda is a cleansing mask with clay.
This is not the cheapest option for a clay mask, but if you look at its consumption and the impressive volume in the jar, I can safely say that the price is very justified.
A large white plastic jar with 140g of product, a grayish mask, thick. After almost 9 months of use, the jar still contains more than half the volume.
From the manufacturer:
Pore cleansing mask with Amazonian white clay, oats and aloe vera. Exfoliates dead skin cells and removes toxins.
Application: Apply a small amount of product to the face with massage movements for 3-5 minutes. Do not apply to the skin around the eyes. Then rinse with water.
Of course, the fact that the mask is in a jar is not very convenient, but I have a wonderful spatula that helps me maintain the hygiene of the mask and my fingers from constantly getting clogged with product under my nails. In the photo there is a lot of mask on the spatula, and for normal use it is enough for 2 times.
I use the mask as recommended by the manufacturer, apply a thin layer to well-cleansed facial skin (with a scrub or Clariskin) and massage. This makes the layer thin and when dry, the face does not turn into sugar with cracks all over the face. I apply it more often locally to the T-zone, less often to the entire face. Well soothes the skin, relieves redness, tightens. I don’t see any more cleansing in it than in other clay masks. And if there is no quality washing, then no mask will help. I use it once or twice a week. Sometimes it is immediately followed by a moisturizing mask, depending on the condition of the skin. There is a lot applied in the photo, it was just a shame to throw the product away from the swatch, and I don’t put it back in the jar. In theory, exactly half of the mask is enough for high-quality work.
I love it, I will use it to the last drop. I recommend it as a good clay mask that is comfortable to use, and not as a mask with super-duper cleansing properties. By the way, I was hoping for a whitening effect from the clay, but unfortunately nothing like that was observed behind the mask.
Price: about 1200r (if I'm not mistaken)
