There are Syrian and Nabataean leeks, and there is also leek, which is called wild leek; it stands midway between leek and garlic and is more like a medicine than a food. Nabatean leek is more often included in medicinal products than Syrian leek.

Nabatean leek is hot in the third degree, dry in the second: wild is hotter and drier and therefore worse.

Syrian leek with sumac reduces hives.
Wounds and ulcers.
Syrian leek with salt is useful against malignant ulcers, and its wild variety causes ulcers on the body.
Organs of the head.
Leek stops nosebleeds. Its seeds and kitran are used to fumigate teeth that are infested with worms; they kill the worms and the worms fall out of the teeth. Eating leek causes headaches and bad dreams. Its ashes with rose oil and wine vinegar are used for pain and ringing in the ear. This is one of those medicines that damages the gums and causes them to turn yellow, especially Syrian leek .

Leeks are harmful to eyesight.
Respiratory and chest organs.
Leek with barley water is useful for asthma arising from thick bad juice, especially Nabataean, and most of all with honey. It helps against tumors in the lungs by promoting their maturation. Leek seeds are given against hemoptysis in the amount of two dirhams with the same amount of myrtle berries.
Nutritional organs.
Wild leek is harmful to the stomach, more harmful than garden leek, since it is bitter, sharper and more pungent. All types of leeks swell. It is boiled in two waters to reduce the harm from its bloating effect. Roof says, “It stops the sour burping, but in general it is digested slowly.”
Eruption organs.
Leeks drive urine and menstruation, especially Nabataean and wild ones; both are harmful in ulceration of the bladder and kidneys. Leek, if eaten boiled or applied as a medicinal dressing, helps with kidney problems and also stimulates lust. Roasted seeds have the same effect. They are roasted together with myrtle berries for bloody diarrhea and bleeding from the anus. Patients are put in a decoction of its leaves with water and this helps against contraction of the uterus and hardening in it. A decoction of its roots is prepared in isfidbaj with safflower oil, almond or sesame oil, and this brings the benefits of kulanj. Boiled dry leek juice is one of the medicines that causes blood laxity.
Poisons.
Squeezing leek juice with water sweetened with honey is beneficial for bites.
