Ma - water

Choice.
Good, praiseworthy varieties of water have already been mentioned by us in Book One and are recognized by what is said there. And bad water is stagnant, swampy water, because foreign taste and foreign smell predominate in it, water is cloudy, thick and heavy, as well as water that quickly turns to stone, water on which bad foam floats, and that water that carries something foreign to yourself. Know that the harm from water, which has the properties of bavrak, is corrected by milk, thick wine, starch, drinks like liquid fragrant wine, as well as unripe jida, raw qissa, as well as thinning and diuretic vegetables. Thick, cloudy water is improved by thinning vegetables, such as garlic, onions and leeks. Drinking wine after such water destroys its harmfulness, and especially if the wine is mixed with it. Hard water is either thick or sharp water that cleanses. Sometimes hard water is the name given to water that cleans well what is washed with it. Bitter water is improved by sweets, and salty water is improved by Syrian horns, myrtle berries, hawthorn, pure clay and oatmeal. Vinegar generally improves bad water.
