Kalmpose is a drug from the group of tranquilizers, a benzodiazepine derivative, which is used to treat various mental and nervous diseases. It is produced by the Indian pharmaceutical company Ranbaxy Laboratories and has the international name Diazepam.

Kalmpose is available as 5 mg tablets and 10 mg injection. Its active substance is diazepam. Depending on the country, Kalmpose may also be sold under other brand names such as Apaurin, Valium, Seduxen and others.

Indications for the use of Kalmpose include neuroses, neurasthenia, hysteria, reactive depression, agoraphobia, insomnia, Meniere's disease, spastic paralysis, withdrawal syndrome in patients with alcoholism, status epilepticus, epilepsy, premedication before surgical interventions and endoscopic manipulations, as well as LSD poisoning.

However, Kalmpose has a list of contraindications. It is not recommended to take it in case of hypersensitivity to diazepam, acute diseases of the liver and kidneys with impaired function, myasthenia gravis, angle-closure glaucoma, the first trimester of pregnancy and during breastfeeding.

Kalmpose can cause side effects such as addiction, decreased reaction speed and concentration, drowsiness, deterioration of short-term memory, ataxia, headache, dizziness, hypotension, bradycardia, intestinal atony, decreased libido and potency, reactions at the injection site, withdrawal syndrome ", aftereffect syndrome (decreased performance, muscle weakness), allergic reactions.

In addition, Kalmpose may interact with other drugs such as alcohol, anticonvulsants, antihypertensives, analgesics, and hypnotics. MAO inhibitors, analeptics, and psychostimulants can reduce its activity.

In case of an overdose of Kalmpose, symptoms such as drowsiness, impaired consciousness, coma, and suppressed reflexes may appear. Treatment includes gastric lavage, intravenous fluids and flumazenil (a diazepine antagonist), and artificial ventilation.
