I usually don't like to overload my combination skin with different bases and foundations. But there are occasions when you need to look as decent as possible, and then various fillers, reducers and concealers come into play. In my case, it is simply necessary to reduce the visibility of pores. Lately I've been using a neat little tube from the cosmetics brand NYX.

First, about purely appearance.

A cute 20 ml tube with a minimalist design. Makes a very pleasant and professional impression. Matte plastic does not collect fingerprints and allows you to dispense the product comfortably.

The manufacturer promised us that the base perfectly evens out the skin texture, filling the pores, making it impeccably smooth and soft. It can be used under makeup, on top of it, and also as a completely self-sufficient product.

Whether this is true, I will tell you a little below.

In my opinion, the photographs presented on the box are not very clear and do not reflect the stated effect. And even on the contrary, they give reason to doubt the results, giving rise to the idea of ​​Photoshop and other retouchers.

I distribute a small amount of the product on an area of ​​skin and rub until a matte “patch” forms, which becomes as if clouded, and the relief looks smoothed.

Now on a lighter area of ​​skin.

As you can see, the application areas are practically not distinguished by color in both cases. But visually these areas look matte and “powdered”, and tactilely you can feel the silkiness and tenderness of the coating.

Now I'll show you a small fragment of the face. For clarity, I masked half of the forehead with primer and left the other unchanged. I show it from different lighting angles, but I think you can immediately see the difference between the two halves.

In macro photography, the pores are, of course, more noticeable than they look in real life, but even in it you can see that visually everything looks much more decent than initially. The relief is smoothed, the skin does not shine, the pores are not so noticeable.

And the face also acquires a certain porcelain pallor, slightly whitening the overall skin color. At the same time, the tone is uniform and translucent, so to speak. Then you can work with it according to your taste and desire. You just need to give the primer 15-20 seconds to absorb and adhere to the surface.

I apply the base with my fingertips, but the recommendations also include an option with a synthetic brush. It's a matter of personal preference. I think there is no need to specifically indicate that the primer is applied to cleansed skin on top of skincare products.

The foundations apply very well and evenly to the base. I usually only use concealer and powder. Sometimes with BB or CC cream. But I think that foundation creams will also be quite flexible in interaction with this foundation.

The matte silky finish lasts all day for me. True, our temperatures this summer are not at all summer-like, so testing was not carried out in particularly intense heat, but the base tolerated 23 degrees and the sun well.

By the end of the day, the pores still sag a little, but they still look much more presentable than without filler.

Well, this whole structure is not too easy to wash off. Silicones are quite difficult to remove from skin, and this is their disadvantage. But when describing the composition, I made a remark that it is necessary to immediately make allowances for the components in understanding their “usefulness”. That's why I don't use Pore Filler primer as often as I'd like. But for grand entrances I use it actively and with pleasure.

As the manufacturer specifically mentions, this primer is ideal for oily and combination skin. At least it suited my combination physiognomy perfectly. I apply it not only to the T-zone and cheeks where enlarged pores are located, but also to my entire face. Makeup lasts longer and the overall appearance does not deteriorate for a long time.

I haven’t tried the grout from Benefit, but from the reviews I understand that I can easily stick with the product from NYX, as a more budget-friendly and not much different analogue.
