Testing face creams

It’s easy to get confused in the modern variety of cosmetics, so finding out which face cream is the best by test purchase is a great idea. Testing will help identify products that have a good composition and a positive effect on the skin.

How to find a quality product? What criteria should be taken into account when choosing? It is very easy to get confused in the variety of face creams. The test purchase rating, as well as reviews from customers and cosmetologists, will help you decide which products you should give preference to. You will see the test purchase winners for different skin types below.

How to choose the right cream?

When choosing a face cream, you need to consider your skin type. The required properties depend on what kind of skin you have:

  1. For a dry and normal face, hydration is important;
  2. for oily skin you need matting and fighting acne;
  3. For aging skin, wrinkle reduction is required.

You should also pay attention to the manufacturer. It is better to purchase products from well-known companies that have proven themselves in the cosmetics market. Of course, a new company can also produce quality products, but is it worth risking your skin to find out for sure?

Before purchasing a product, read what they write about it online. Studying the opinions of other people will help you understand how the product affects the skin and whether it will suit you. You can also consult with cosmetologists, see the results of a test purchase or testing from bloggers.

You should not focus on the price of the product. A good budget cream can be purchased for 100 rubles, and a high-quality luxury product for 5 thousand rubles. Despite this price range, the products purchased may be almost the same.

The most important criterion that you need to focus on when choosing products for moisturizing, cleansing and rejuvenating your face is the composition. The properties and effectiveness of the product depend on the active components.

What should be included?

High-quality facial cosmetics should contain the following ingredients:

  1. Panthenol. Rejuvenates, softens, moisturizes the skin.
  2. Allantoin. Restores skin, retains moisture.
  3. Hyaluronic acid. Deeply moisturizes and nourishes the face.
  4. Retinol. Stimulates the natural synthesis of collagen and elastin, fights rashes.
  5. Peptides. Nourishes the deep layers of the skin, restores, rejuvenates.
  6. AHA and BHA acids. They exfoliate dead cells, increase the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, and remove hyperpigmentation.
  7. Salicylic acid. Cleanses pores, eliminates acne, mattifies.
  8. Zinc. Deeply cleanses the face, whitens age spots, and imparts matteness.
  9. Base oils. Soften, moisturize, nourish and tone the skin.
  10. Plant extracts. They have various effects. Selected according to skin type and required properties.

These substances have different properties, so the product should not contain each of them. 2-3 components from the list are enough for the product to perform well.

Harmful components

Among the components that are unacceptable in a good product are:

  1. formaldehyde;
  2. triethanolamine;
  3. phtholates;
  4. ethylene glycol;
  5. propylene glycol;
  6. mineral oils;
  7. heavy silicones.

Paraben content over 0.3% will also negatively affect the skin.

Preservatives and emulsifiers present in the cream should be last in the list of ingredients.

Cosmetologist about choosing a face cream:

Which face cream is the best - test purchase

To determine the best face cream, a test purchase was carried out. For testing, 9 popular creams from well-known manufacturers were purchased. The products were divided into 3 groups according to skin type: for normal and dry, for oily and problematic, for age.

Depending on the type of skin and the required properties, each product was evaluated according to 3-5 main criteria. What results will the test purchase demonstrate? There will be more than one winning cream: each category will have its own leading product.

For normal, dry, sensitive skin

The products reviewed in this group were evaluated for the following properties:

  1. moisturizing, nutritional properties;
  2. relieving irritation and peeling;
  3. softening and protective effect.

First of all, a product for dry and normal skin should deeply moisturize. The best facial moisturizer was chosen from products from 3 companies: L’Oreal Paris, Vishy and Darphin.

L’Oreal Paris: “Trio Active” Ultra-hydration

Budget product for dry, normal and combination skin. Contains panthenol, glycerin, stearyl alcohol, vitamin E. Deeply moisturizes, softens, protects from external influences, improves complexion and texture, and adds radiance.

Among the disadvantages are the controversial composition and heavy texture. "Trio Active" can make the face oily and ripple, so it is not suitable for normal and combination skin.

“Trio Active” was liked by 30% of those with dry and normal skin. It took 3rd place in the ranking of moisturizing cosmetics.

Vishy: AQUALIA THERMAL Rich Cream

Mid-price product. Consists of proprietary mineralizing thermal water, hyaluronic acid, aquabioryl, lambda-carrageenan. Deeply moisturizes, soothes, strengthens, restores skin, and retains moisture inside.

Among the disadvantages are rare allergic reactions.

35% of customers liked the product. It shares first place with Darphin Hydraskin Rich cream.

Darphin: Hydraskin Rich Rich Moisturizer

French luxury cream intended for dry and normal skin. Contains shea butter, mango extract, imperata cylindrical, lavender essential oil, salicornia. The product softens, deeply moisturizes the face, improves protective functions, and restores the hydrolipid barrier.

Among the disadvantages are the lack of effect on complexion and high price.

This product was preferred by 35% of customers. Hydraskin Rich took first place in the rating of moisturizers, together with a product from Vishy.

For oily, problem skin

The funds in this group were supposed to have the following effects:

  1. matting the face;
  2. fight against rashes;
  3. improvement of complexion.

The main requirement was to give the face a matte finish and no shine. The best product was chosen among products from the brands Cora, La-Roche Posay and Santaverde.

Bark: Cream-gel for problem and oily skin. Matting effect

Inexpensive domestic product. Contains natural prebiotics, decylene glycol, shea butter and corn, extracts of calendula, plantain, arnica, raspberry. The cream regulates sebum secretion, improves texture and skin tone.

The disadvantages include an unsafe composition with an abundance of preservatives and possible allergic reactions. The product does not fight rashes well and has a short-lived mattifying effect.

Only 5% of customers who participated in the study chose the cream-gel from Cora. The product took 3rd place in the rating of products for problematic and oily skin.

La-Roche Posay: Effaclar Duo (+)

Mattifying and anti-inflammatory product in the mid-price segment. Contains the unique components Aqua Posae Filiformis and Mannose, as well as salicylic acid, zinc salt, prokerad, lipohydroxy acid. Effectively moisturizes, mattifies the skin, eliminates inflammation, and prevents new rashes.

The cream also has an excellent moisturizing effect, important for owners of any skin type. No obvious deficiencies were identified during testing of the product.

Effaclar Duo is the undisputed winner of the test purchase. 75% of women preferred it to other products for oily and problematic skin.

Santaverde: Light cream “Aloe Vera Basic” for normal and oily skin

Organic luxury cream. Instead of water, it uses organic aloe vera leaf juice. The composition also contains vitamins E, C, apple extract, olive oil, almond oil, and peach oil. The product is hypoallergenic, does not contain hazardous components, mattifies and moisturizes the face for a long time.

Disadvantages of the cream: high cost, insufficient anti-inflammatory effect.

20% of customers thought it was an excellent product. Aloe Vera Basic takes 2nd place in the ranking of mattifying and anti-inflammatory drugs.

For aged, aging skin

The criteria for evaluating drugs in this group were the following effects:

  1. deep hydration;
  2. reduction of wrinkles;
  3. tightening the oval of the face.

First of all, the effect of the drug on deep and fine wrinkles was assessed. The companies L’Oreal Paris, Avene, and Clinique participated in the rating.

L’Oreal Paris: Day cream “Age Expert 65+”

An effective product from the budget price segment. Contains vitamins E, B5, prickly pear flower extract. The drug restores elasticity and clear contours to the face, tightens wrinkles and sagging, fights hyperpigmentation, and gives the face a beautiful shade.

Among the disadvantages is insufficient hydration for very dry skin.

According to test results, this cream was preferred by 35% of women. It took an honorable second place in the ranking of the best anti-aging products.

Avene: Ystheal

Pharmacy product from the middle price category. Contains the retinoid component retinaldehyde, the antioxidant pretocopheryl, and proprietary thermal water. The product protects the face from free radicals, “restarts” the work of skin cells, tones, and gives elasticity to the face.

Despite the attractive composition and promises of manufacturers, Ysteal showed tightening properties only on skin with early age-related changes.

Only 15% of women chose this cream. It took last place in the top three products for aging skin.

Clinique: Repairwear Laser Focus Line Smoothing Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 15

An effective luxury cosmetic product. Contains whey protein, murumuru oil, glycerin, algae, coffee, and tangerine extracts. The drug stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, increases elasticity, and protects against the aggressive effects of sunlight.

The disadvantage may be the high price: the product costs 5500-6000 rubles.

Half of the consumers in the blind test chose Repairwear Laser Focus over other products. Based on the results of the test purchase, it became the winner in the category of anti-aging cosmetic products.
