Philagry says: if a patient is afraid of water and I give him to drink from a vessel covered with the skin of a hyena, he drinks, and another doctor says either from a vessel covered with the skin of a hyena, especially if the vessel is wooden, or covered with the skin of a mad dog.
Says one of the doctors. Or they put a rag of a woman who has performed ritual ablution under the vessel or on the vessel, but other doctors say that nothing like that helps.
One of the doctors managed to insert a long reed into the patient’s throat and poured water into it from afar, covering it with something that hid the water, that is, he inserted the end of the reed into the throat and poured water into it, or used special golden tubes.
One of the tricks for giving water to a patient is to make a hollow tube from condensed honey or wax, pour water into it and order the patient to swallow the tube.
