Exercises for hollows under the eyes

What signs can be used to determine how old a person is? Of course, by the eyes. The condition of the eyelids reveals age more than other manifestations. Over the years, they begin to sink and decrease, wrinkles appear on the skin, eyebrows droop, and eyelids droop. As surprising as it may be for many to hear, the cause of age-related changes is not stretched skin at all; the main culprits for sagging and drooping eyelids are the muscles of the eyes and forehead. Therefore, in order to restore a youthful look, you need to put your muscles in order, and exercises for the eyelids and skin around the eyes will help us with this.

Causes of wrinkles, drooping eyelids, sunken eyes and bruises under the eyes

It is generally accepted that with age, muscles weaken, losing their tone. In reality, everything happens the other way around. Age-related changes in the eyelids begin due to muscle hypertonicity.

A spasm often occurs on the orbicularis oculi muscle, due to which it decreases from above towards its inner corner, and from below - towards the outer edge. Because of this, the skin that was previously stretched over the muscle becomes redundant and begins to sag.

Due to the habit of sleeping on the side, creases are formed that run from the outer corner of the eye to the nose.
Changing your sleeping position can correct this problem.

Due to the work of the temporal muscle, crow's feet are formed during squinting and laughter. Also, the reason for their appearance is the drying out of the temporal region of the bone structure with age, due to which the muscle narrows, adapting to the changes in the bone, and the skin folds into folds.

Due to poor lymphatic drainage in the body and deformation of bone and muscle structures, excess fluid begins to accumulate between the skin of the eyelids and the muscles. This is manifested by swelling of the upper eyelid, its overhang, and bags under the eyes.

Drooping of the upper eyelid is also associated with deformation of the orbicularis oculi, frontal and temporal muscles, since these muscles are interconnected.

Deformed muscles in the forehead point downward, causing the skin to sag over the eyes.

A spasmed temporalis muscle causes the skin to sag at the outer corner of the eye, and the skin under the inner part of the eyebrow begins to sag due to hypertonicity of the corrugator muscle.

Often, due to spasm and narrowing of the orbicularis oculi muscle, with age the eyelids become smaller in size and seem to sink in, their shape changes.

Let us note that such changes are associated, among other things, with psychological aging, when a person loses interest in life, stops looking at everything with wide open eyes, and his eyelids narrow.

When the eyes sink, a protrusion appears under the eyelid in the shape of a “step” - this phenomenon is called “deepening of the tear trough.” It is formed at the junction of the orbicularis eyelid muscle with other facial muscles. In this place, blood circulation deteriorates, and a pronounced darkening appears.

Since with age, most of the muscles on the face are in hypertonicity, the deformed lateral nasal muscle, the muscle that lifts the upper lip and the wing of the nose, increase the manifestations of the tear trough and bruises under the eyes due to the fact that the area of the lateral part of the nose becomes shorter, approaching century. Due to poor blood circulation, the amount of fatty tissue in this area increases, a bulge forms, and the eye appears more sunken.

A block of the orbicularis muscle and other muscles adjacent to it impedes blood circulation in the eye area and lymph outflow. The tissues receive poor nutrients and waste from stagnant lymph poisons them, the color and structure of the skin changes, it becomes thin with a blue tint.

How to tighten eyelids and enlarge eyes at home

As we have already understood, the main cause of eye aging is deformation of their muscles, as well as the forehead and temporal region. For this reason, lymph stagnation occurs and blood supply in this area deteriorates.

Therefore, in order to restore your eyes to their former youth, you need to put your muscles in order. Gymnastics for eyelids and eye rejuvenation will help us with this. We will use the techniques of the author's rejuvenation techniques: face-building, revitonics, cantienics, face-forming and face-fitness.

Let's start working with the forehead area, where massage and exercises are extremely effective for lifting the eyelids and correcting sunken, sunken eyes.

Rejuvenate your eyes with exercises for the forehead, temples, eyebrows

  1. Place one palm on your forehead, the other on the back of your head. Wait until the palm on top of your forehead naturally becomes moist and begins to slide towards your hair. After sliding, hold your palm in the hair area for 8 seconds. Do it three times. For better results, you can wrinkle your forehead;

Photo from the book by N.B. Osminina "The world of the face and its secrets"

  1. Place the index finger of one palm on the side above the eyebrow. The thumb should rest against the temple, moving it as far as possible from the index finger and stretching the skin in a horizontal direction;
  2. Use the fingertips of your other hand to describe spiral movements from the eyebrow to the hair. As the massage progresses, the muscles will be directed upward;
  3. Repeat the same thing on the other side.
  4. Then place your palms on your forehead, little fingers touching each other. Massage the middle of the forehead from the eyebrows to the hair in a spiral manner in the direction of the frontal muscles, helping your fingers by slightly raising the eyebrows.

Relaxation of the forehead and temporal zone helps to raise the upper eyelid.

This exercise will help both tighten the upper eyelid and reduce crow's feet, improve the shape of the eyes, giving them an almond shape, and raise the outer eyebrow area.

  1. Place the wrist part of the palms on the temples in their recess next to the outer part of the eyebrow;
  2. Spread your fingers, clasping your head;
  3. Stretch the muscle towards the back of the head and slide along it when the skin is moisturized;
  4. If something doesn’t work out, then, without removing your hands, return them all the way back to the point of initial tension;
  5. Hold for 30 seconds, maintaining the reverse tension, then bring your palms back toward the back of your head.

Photo from the book by N.B. Osminina “Fitness for the face. Revitonica system"

  1. Place your elbows on a hard surface, ideally a table.
  2. Place your index finger above the eyebrow, squeeze it in the middle, bending your finger, and pulling it forward from the bone for thirty seconds, then straighten your finger and stretch the eyebrow in an arc for 8 seconds, directing it from the center to the periphery.

Vertical wrinkles:

  1. Place your thumbs under the inner end of your eyebrows, and your index fingers 2 cm above them
  2. Place your fingers in a crease for thirty seconds;
  3. Then stretch the area where you worked.

Horizontal wrinkles:

  1. Pinch the fold on the right and left sides of the bridge of the nose for thirty seconds, then stretch it in the direction from the bridge of the nose to the hair. Perform 3 repetitions;

Eyelid exercises

Place your index fingers on your forehead above your eyebrows, and place your thumbs below your eyes. Cover your eyelids. Spread your fingers outward from the eyelids, gently applying pressure. Do this exercise for 40 seconds and then rest.

  1. The technique works the orbicularis oculi muscle and others nearby: the temporalis, the procerus muscle. Executes slowly. Find a point at the level of your eyelids and slowly protrude your eyes, looking at this point. By doing this exercise, you will feel how not only the muscles of the eyes work, but also the muscles of the temples and nose. Relax your eyes, close them, then start protruding them again. Repeat slowly ten times. Then relax your eyelids completely. You can rub your palms together and apply them to your eyes;
  2. Move your pupils in a zigzag pattern, first from left to right, from the imaginary left viewing angle to the right, then gradually going down in a zigzag, then back;
  3. Then do the same thing, just move in a zigzag from bottom to top, from the imaginary left viewing angle down, then up, gradually moving from left to right and then in the opposite direction;
  4. With your eyes closed, move your pupils in a circle ten times in one direction and the same number in the opposite direction.

The last technique perfectly copes with age-related sunken eyes when performed regularly.

  1. Place your hands on your temple in such a way that the fingers of one palm look at the fingers of the other palm: the palm, where the fingers are pointing down, rises slightly towards the hair, the other, where the fingers are pointing up, moves slightly towards the ear;
  2. After creating tissue pretension, the skin should become slightly moisturized, after which the hands will begin to move on their own.
  1. Place your index fingers on top of your closed eyelids. Try to open them by counting to eight. Then blink and repeat 3 times;

Place the tip of your index finger on the upper eyelid. Pull the outer edges of the eyes towards the temples. Use your upper eyelid to press as hard as you can onto your lower eyelid. Perform sixty presses. Look in the mirror. Pay attention to whether you frown.

  1. The exercise restores the shape of the eyelids, eliminates the effect of sunken or sunken eyes, and opens them.

Photo from the book by N.B. Osminina “Fitness for the face. Revitonica system"

  1. Make two fingers, index and middle, in a "V" shape. Keep your palms with the inside facing your face. Fix your middle fingers into the upper walls of the eyelid orbit, and your index fingers into their lower walls. Maintain the position for 1-2 seconds, then release the pressure while remaining in the same place;
  2. Try to widen your eyes for ten seconds, then try to squint without changing the position of your fingers for 20 seconds;
  3. Move your fingers towards your temples in intermittent movements without stretching the skin, help yourself by slightly squinting;

Note: If you have trouble moving to the outer edge, move your fingers back towards the inner corner of the eyelid for thirty seconds, then continue with the main technique.

  1. Change the position of your palms. Place your thumbs on the cheekbone, and press the inner edge of your index finger against the outer part of the eyebrow, forming a “frame”. Maintain the position for thirty seconds.
  2. Strengthen the effect by moving against resistance - squint;
  3. Relax the area you were working on.

2) The following technique also makes the eyes larger:

Photo from the book by N.B. Osminina "The world of the face and its secrets"

Perform the technique for each eye separately, starting with the left.

  1. Make a "V" shape with the index and middle fingers of your left hand. Point the outer part of your palm towards your face. Place your middle finger at the outer corner of your eyebrow and your index finger at the outer corner of your eye.
  2. Place the index finger of your right hand under the inner point of the eyebrow, and the middle finger under the inner corner of the eye.
  3. Imagine that the pupil of the eye is the center of the resulting rectangle. Using the corners of this rectangle, try to expand the orbit of the eye evenly relative to the pupil.

With age, and sometimes even in young girls, depressions form under the eyes, which also have an unattractive tint - for some it is bluish, for others it is yellowish.

These depressions are also called tear troughs and they look like this:

uprazhneniya-ot-provalov-pod-twRMjh.webp

This facial flaw is very worrying for any woman, since they are one of the signs of age-related changes - they visually add age, and the face looks tired, even if you get enough sleep and lead a healthy lifestyle.

Why do they form and why do they acquire such an ugly shade? There may be several reasons for this.

Cause of hollows under the eyes

The tear trough area is the area where a certain muscle ligament attaches to our face.

uprazhneniya-ot-provalov-pod-TyGyi.webp

The skin in this area is very thin; under the skin there is a thin muscle that has a purple color. It is precisely the translucency of this muscle through thin skin that causes blue circles in the area of the tear trough.

In addition to this, with age, skin elasticity decreases and the number of subcutaneous fat cells decreases, especially in thin women.

All this together is the most common cause of bluish depressions under the eyes.

uprazhneniya-ot-provalov-pod-BmmsK.webp

Other possible reasons:

- heredity, when the indentations of the tear troughs and their blueness are determined by your nature

- constant overstrain of the eye muscles, as a result of which the layer of fat cells is depleted

There are several ways to combat hollows under the eyes:
- plastic surgery
- cosmetic procedures
- Facebook building
- corrective makeup.

Let's briefly look at each of the described methods.

Elimination of tear troughs using plastic surgery and cosmetology

Correction of the tear trough in plastic surgery is carried out using lower eyelid blepharoplasty. As a result, excess fatty tissue under the lower eyelids is eliminated, and the hollows are filled with fat.

This method is very traumatic and is recommended in combination with solving other cosmetic problems.

In cosmetology, the procedure for correcting the tear trough is called contouring with fillers.

Using a needle (under local anesthesia cream), a filler (injectable drug) is injected into the projection of the tear trough under the muscle and fills it.

Typically, fillers based on hyaluronic acid are used in cosmetology.

This procedure is comfortable and painless and lasts 15-20 minutes.

As a result, the skin texture is evened out, and the hollows under the eyes disappear. The effect is noticeable immediately after the procedure and lasts from two to several years.

Both methods are very effective in correcting tear troughs, and each of them has both its advantages and disadvantages.

Thus, lower eyelid blepharoplasty is a plastic surgery that involves liposuction from one area and injection of fat into another.

Contour plastic surgery with fillers is not a surgical procedure; it does not require any preparation and has a low recovery period.

However, if administered ineptly, or with the introduction of a low-quality filler, it can protrude unsightly above the skin, and also retain water and cause swelling, which will be quite problematic to deal with.

And if the filler gets into the vessel, it can damage the visual organ and ruin vision (this is the saddest outcome).

Therefore, you need to be aware that this procedure is quite risky and should be done in trusted places by a good specialist.

Removing hollows under the eyes with exercises

If you are against surgical and injection interventions in your beauty, then you need to master face-building - exercises to strengthen your facial muscles.

The exercises must be done daily; they are quite simple and take no more than five minutes a day.

Each exercise must be performed carefully and very slowly to get maximum effect.

Correcting hollows under the eyes with makeup

Well, what about without makeup? Makeup, of course, will not solve the problem, but it will help even out the skin tone and disguise dark depressions.

How to get rid of hollows under the eyes - four methods for eliminating tear troughs: 5 comments

I have been doing exercises for a long time, surgery is still a risky business, I agree with this.

Can you tell me exactly what exercises are needed? Thank you

It’s easier to do the operation once. Why suffer for the rest of my life... I did the second blepharoplasty, the upper eyelids were done well, but the lower ones were not... I stepped in and the doctor didn’t tell me that in my case it was necessary not just to cut out the hernias under the eyes, but to fill the nasal tear with my own hernias. I would do it once and for all, they don’t dissolve. And now along the way we will have to do lipofilling...

Still, it’s difficult to disguise cavities with makeup. It will still be visible.

I would not go for the procedure with fillers, it is a very risky procedure. I will try to eliminate it with massage

Hollows under the eyes do not decorate a woman’s face; they add age. In some cases they are symptoms of diseases. It is difficult to disguise such a defect.

You need to understand the reasons for the appearance of characteristic depressions, then it will be easier to understand how to get rid of them. We’ll talk further about why hollows appear under the eyes and how to get rid of them.

Hollows under the eyes - what are they?

The area under the eyes is very sensitive, this is due to its anatomical structure. The eye and the space around it are located in the orbit - the opening of the skull. The eyeball is fixed by muscles.

The facial muscle of the lower eyelid is thin and quickly responds to any changes or unfavorable conditions. It is its deformations that cause depressions under the eyes.

Beneath the muscle fibers is a layer of fat. It is not associated with obesity. With the correct volume and distribution, the tear trough has a good shape and depth. The lack of subcutaneous fat makes the tear trough more noticeable and expressive.

With age, but sometimes also in young girls, depressions with an unattractive tint form under the eyes. It can be bluish or yellow. The muscle in this area has a purple tint; thin skin cannot cover this color. Over time, the elasticity of the skin decreases, the amount of adipose tissue becomes less, so the bluish depressions stand out more noticeably.

This is especially true for women of thin build. The skin gradually slides down and in small folds forms a kind of “bags” under the eyes. It is difficult to straighten them; it is better to prevent their occurrence.

Causes

uprazhneniya-ot-provalov-pod-ZCTtFU.webp

There are several reasons for the appearance of such depressions under the eyes:

  1. genetic predisposition;
  2. lack of subcutaneous fat in thin people;
  3. disorders in the circulatory system;
  4. diseases of the endocrine system;
  5. severe eye fatigue;
  6. unbalanced diet, lack of vitamins;
  7. allergic manifestations;
  8. sudden weight loss;
  9. chronic lack of sleep, insomnia, other disturbances of normal sleep;
  10. frequent stress;
  11. long-term use of certain medications;
  12. inflammation of internal organs;
  13. insufficient, improper skin care;
  14. bad habits;
  15. severe dehydration of the body;
  16. poor digestion of food;
  17. heart and vascular diseases;
  18. impairment of kidney function.

The main reason is age-related changes in the structure of the epidermis - thinning of the skin, reduction of subcutaneous fat.

How to get rid of hollows under the eyes

Modern methods of medicine and cosmetology make it possible to make adjustments and get rid of hollows under the eyes.

You can use cosmetics to mask dark circles under your eyes every day. But there are radical ways in the form of plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures.

Numerous modern techniques are effective and show good results. Only they cannot permanently get rid of hollows under the eyes. The main reason is age-related changes that cannot be corrected. The problem is that you will need to repeat cosmetic procedures again, since after a few years the changes will be noticeable again.

To look good over the years, you need to take care of your face from a young age. When the skin is still in good condition, you need to think about its future and take measures to prevent aging. Some substances in the body stop being produced after 25 years, so you can start active anti-aging actions in your youth.

Experts recommend taking comprehensive measures, then it will be possible to solve the problem of getting rid of hollows under the eyes. Not only cosmetic procedures, taking vitamins, but also special gymnastics, walks in the fresh air, and good sleep will help you look good.

To get rid of hollows under the eyes, a variety of cosmetic procedures are used. Their choice depends on the purpose of the procedure and capabilities, because each medical procedure has its own limitations.

Fillers based on hyaluronic acid are considered effective. They do not cause allergies, do not form lumps, and do not move to other layers of tissue. The result lasts from 4 months to one year, then the procedure requires repetition. Botox injections have a longer lasting effect.

  1. skin diseases;
  2. pathologies of the heart and blood vessels;
  3. blood clotting disorders;
  4. pregnancy, breastfeeding.

Microcurrent therapy helps a lot. To do this, you can buy a special device and perform the procedures at home yourself. At the same time, skin nutrition at the cellular level improves, irritation and inflammation of the epidermis disappears.

Blood circulation is significantly improved and the restoration of damaged cells is accelerated. With regular use, the functioning of the sebaceous glands is normalized, and congestion in the subcutaneous layers is eliminated. Gradually, the muscles will become elastic and the skin will have an even tone.

Bioreparation of the eyelids brings positive results. Injections of a special composition are made at certain points in the corners of the eyes, under the eyes, on the eyelids. At the same time, you need to follow the drinking regime and get enough sleep. Only an integrated approach will achieve the desired effect. The injections contain amino acids, vitamins, L-carnitine, hyaluronic acid, and other ingredients. The effect lasts up to two years.

The most common plastic surgery procedure is lipofilling. The required amount of adipose tissue is taken from the thigh or abdomen and specially processed. Then, under local anesthesia, it is injected into the nasolacrimal groove.

The operation solves the problem only temporarily and requires regular repetition. It is necessary to stop smoking after such an operation. A bad habit reduces the effectiveness of the procedure.

An effective technique is laser blepharoplasty. A positive result will be noticeable within 5 years. After the procedure, no scars will be visible, rehabilitation takes little time. There is no risk of bleeding or infection.

Exercises will help get rid of hollows under the eyes. You need to start doing them as early as possible, then the result will be more noticeable. Perform several approaches per day.

  1. Tones muscles. Place the entire surface of the middle fingers on the wings of the nose, horizontally, parallel to the floor. Perform light stretching movements to the sides, without unnecessary force.
  2. Develops the lacrimal muscle. Place your index fingers on the indentations, do not press. Stretch your lips into the letter “o”. Quickly open and close your eyes 60 times.
  3. Strengthens the muscles under the eyes. Place your index fingers horizontally under the eyes on the bones, do not press. Stretch your lips into the letter “o”. Close your eyes and look up. Freeze in this position for a few seconds. Then relax and repeat the exercise again. You should feel muscle tension under your eyes.

Some masks can reduce hollows under the eyes:

  1. Honey. Take liquid honey or melt thickened honey in a water bath (1 large spoon). Add the same amount of flour and a raw chicken egg yolk. Stir everything and apply to the problem area. After 15 minutes, rinse with warm water.
  2. Cucumber with milk. Finely grate fresh cucumber and apply to the lower eyelids. Periodically apply a cotton pad soaked in milk on top. The duration of the procedure is 20 minutes.

Masks should be done regularly 2-3 times a week.

Disguise with cosmetics

Women know that hollows under the eyes can be disguised with the help of cosmetics. Modern cosmetics are capable of many things.

A correctly selected foundation will hide the unpleasant color and even out defects. Often it is not sleep, but cosmetics that make the skin rested and radiant.

To properly disguise the hollows under the eyes, you need to take into account some subtleties:

  1. purchase cosmetics from trusted manufacturers;
  2. choose a high-quality foundation, because it should stay on your face all day, fit well, and not cause allergies;
  3. choose a foundation cream that is denser in texture, as it should cover the dark skin under the eyes;
  4. be sure to pay attention to the expiration date;
  5. A green concealer will come in handy; it successfully masks imperfections;
  6. shimmering bronzer gives the look an inner glow, which effectively distracts attention from the bluish tint under the eyes;
  7. the use of nourishing creams intended for the skin around the eyes will moisturize this area and brighten it.

Applying these rules will help you use makeup cosmetics more reliably.

uprazhneniya-ot-provalov-pod-wtRTIt.webp

If you have a few minutes before applying cosmetics, you can cool tea bags in the freezer and make a compress under the eyes or apply special patches. This will help the drainage of stagnant fluid. If you have problems with the maxillary sinuses, this should not be done.

Foundation is applied to the face. Two shades for the area under the eyes. One matches your skin tone, the other is lighter. First, concealer is applied to the problem area. If your skin has a reddish-blue tint, then it is better to take a green concealer. If the skin is yellow, then the concealer is purple.

Use concealer to draw a triangle under the eye. Two corners will be on the outer and inner corners of the eyes, the top will go down to the middle of the cheek to cover the gap. Fill the inside of the triangle with concealer, shade the borders and apply tone on top. Finally, you need to use a highlighter to highlight the corners of your eyes.

Preventive measures

By following the recommendations of experts, you can keep the skin under your eyes in good condition for many years:

  1. stop smoking;
  2. sleep on a low pillow;
  3. remove makeup at night;
  4. use day and night cream for the skin around the eyes;
  5. perform special gymnastics;
  6. do self-massage of the face.

It is necessary to eliminate the problems that cause the appearance of hollows under the eyes. Paying attention to your health and following a daily routine will be good prevention.

Reviews

  1. Albina, Bashkiria: “At the age of 36, I had my nasolacrimal groove corrected with fillers. After the recovery period, the result was noticeable. I liked everything, it’s a pity that it won’t be preserved for life. I don't want to start doing everything again. I'm looking on the Internet for ways to maintain the effect so that it lasts longer. It’s better to do exercises and massages than injections again.”
  2. Anna, Ufa: “I have a problem with dark circles under my eyes. I've been trying to get rid of it for a long time, but with little results. I don't want to use radical methods. There is an effect after a vacation, a long rest, but modern life does not allow you to relax for so long.”
