Accessory Process

Accessory process: this is an anatomical feature of the structure of the human skull at the fronto-parietal joint. Its other name is the perforated edge of the parietal bone, or spur. This is a paired anatomical structure that connects the squamosal edge in front with the base bone of the parietal bones. The accessory processes consist of cartilaginous tissue and are about 15 mm long. When drying out, degeneration or destruction of neighboring cells, its length decreases.
