Advantan Fatty ointment: properties, use and side effects
Advantan Fatty ointment is a drug from the group of drugs with glucocorticosteroid activity, produced by Schering AG in Italy and Germany. The active substance methylprednisolone aceponate has anti-inflammatory properties and is used to treat various types of eczema, as well as contact dermatitis.
The drug is presented in the form of a fatty ointment with a concentration of the active substance of 0.1%. It is applied to the affected skin in a thin layer 1-3 times a day. The duration of treatment and dosage should be determined by the doctor, based on the severity and nature of the disease.
Advantan Fatty ointment is indicated for eczema of various origins, including seborrheic, contact, anal, occupational, dyshidrotic, and common coin-shaped in children. It is also effective for contact dermatitis.
There are contraindications to the use of Advantan Fatty Ointment, including tuberculosis or syphilitic processes on the skin, viral infection, rosacea, perioral dermatitis. In rare cases, local reactions such as itching, burning, erythema, blistering, folliculitis, hypertrichosis and allergic reactions may occur.
It is necessary to avoid getting the drug into the eyes, and it is also not recommended to combine its use with physiotherapeutic procedures.
With excessive and/or intensive local use, the development of superficial skin atrophy (thinning of the skin, stretch marks) and the appearance of telangiectasia are possible. In case of overdose, you must immediately stop using the drug.
In general, Advantan Fatty Ointment is an effective treatment for eczema and contact dermatitis, but requires careful monitoring and medical advice when used.
