Axamon is a drug that belongs to the group of cholinesterase inhibitors. It is produced in Russia by the company Pik-Pharma and has the international name Ipidacrine. Indications for use
Axamon is used to treat diseases of the peripheral nervous system in adults, such as neuritis, polyneuritis, polyneuropathy, polyradiculoneuropathy, myasthenia gravis. Axamon should not be used in case of hypersensitivity to its components, epilepsy, extrapyramidal disorders, severe bradycardia, angina pectoris, bronchial asthma, vestibular disorders, gastric ulcer in the acute stage, pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Side effects that may occur when using Axamon include dizziness, bradycardia (can be eliminated with m-anticholinergics), hypersalivation (can be eliminated with m-anticholinergics), nausea, vomiting, itching and rash.
Interaction with other drugs
Aksamon enhances the sedative effect of drugs that depress the central nervous system. M-cholinomimetics and other cholinesterase inhibitors can enhance the effect and side effects of Axamon, increasing the risk of a cholinergic crisis, especially in patients with myasthenia gravis. Beta-blockers cause bradycardia if they were used before treatment with Axamon. When used simultaneously with alcohol, adverse side effects may increase.
Overdose and special instructions
In case of an overdose of Axamon, it is necessary to prescribe m-anticholinergics, including atropine, cyclodol and other analogues.
The drug increases the muscle tone of the uterus and can cause premature labor, so when using it, caution must be exercised in case of a stomach ulcer, as well as in the presence of other diseases that can be aggravated by increased muscle tone.
