Lumbocostal Vein

The lumbocostal vein (lat. vena lumbocostalis, free - renal, rib, subcostal vein) is a paired venous vessel that collects blood from the organs and tissues of the lumbar region and abdomen.

The vein begins at the lumbar plexus and runs down the spine, passing through the lumbosacral plexus. It runs along the ribs, collecting blood from the muscles of the back, abdominal wall, abdominal organs and pelvis.

The lumbocostal veins drain into the inferior vena cava or the posterior intercostal vein.

This vein is one of the main drainage routes for blood from the lower body. Disturbances in the functioning of this vein can lead to various diseases and health problems.
