Actiferrin Compositum: an effective solution for iron deficiency anemia
Actiferrin Compositum is a pharmaceutical drug developed for the treatment of iron deficiency anemia and conditions accompanied by an increased need for iron and folic acid, especially during pregnancy. This drug is manufactured by Merkle GmbH in Germany and belongs to the group of drugs containing iron.
Actiferrin Compositum is available in capsule form, each containing the following active ingredients: iron (II) sulfate 113.85 mg (equivalent to 34.5 mg iron (II)), d,l-serine 129 mg, folic acid in an amount of 500 mcg and cyanocobalamin in an amount of 300 mcg.
Indications for the use of Actiferrin Compositum include the treatment of iron deficiency anemia with concomitant folic acid deficiency, as well as conditions in which the need for iron and folic acid increases, especially during pregnancy.
However, there are certain contraindications to the use of the drug. It is not recommended to use Actiferrin Compositum in case of hypersensitivity to its components, as well as in the presence of anemia, such as aplastic, hemolytic, sideroachrestic, thalassemia and anemia not associated with iron deficiency. Also, the drug should not be used for hemochromatosis and hemosiderosis.
Side effects of Actiferrin Compositum may include hypersensitivity and various anemias, including aplastic, hemolytic and sideroachrestic. However, the interaction of the drug with other drugs has not yet been studied, and there is no data on a possible overdose.
When using Aktiferrin Compositum, special instructions must be taken into account. Absorption of the drug may be reduced by concomitant consumption of black tea, coffee, milk, solid foods, bread, raw cereals, dairy products and eggs. In addition, when taking the drug, stool may turn black.
