Anacid is a drug used to treat various gastrointestinal disorders, such as peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, gastritis, reflux esophagitis, duodenitis, diaphragmatic hernia and others.

This drug contains two active components - aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide. These components have antacid properties, that is, they neutralize excess acid in the stomach and reduce the acidity of the stomach contents.

The anacid is produced by Galena AS in the Czech Republic and has the international name Algeldrat + Magnesium hydroxide. It is also known under other trade names such as Almagel, Maalox, Coalgel 60, etc.

This drug is available in the form of suspension and suspension forte. It is taken orally after meals and before bed, and can be used to both treat and prevent gastrointestinal diseases.

Despite the effectiveness of Anacid in the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders, it has its own contraindications and side effects. For example, it is not recommended for severe renal impairment, Alzheimer's disease, during the neonatal period and during breastfeeding. Anacid may also have side effects such as taste disturbances, nausea, vomiting, cramps, epigastric pain, constipation, hypercalciuria, hypermagnesemia, hypophosphatemia, drowsiness, osteomalacia, dementia and swelling of the extremities.

Interaction of Anacid with other medications may also be a problem. For example, it can reduce the effectiveness of tetracyclines, H2-antihistamines, cardiac glycosides, iron salts, ciprofloxacin, phenothiazines, isoniazid, beta-blockers, indomethacin, ketoconazole.
