Anthracene

Anthrasennin is a laxative that is used for chronic constipation.

Action. Anthrasennin has an irritating effect on the receptors of the colon mucosa, increasing peristalsis and stimulating the separation of fluid into the intestinal lumen. This leads to a decrease in the viscosity of feces, accelerating their movement and facilitating bowel movements.

Indications. The drug is indicated for chronic constipation of various origins, especially in elderly patients and people leading a sedentary lifestyle.

Dosage. The recommended dose for adults is 1-2 tablets before bedtime. The dose can be gradually increased to 3 tablets per dose if the effect of using the drug at a lower dose is insufficient. The course of treatment usually lasts from 1 to 3 weeks.
