Apo-Diclo: an anti-inflammatory drug for the treatment of diseases of the musculoskeletal system and other diseases

Apo-Diclo (international name - Diclofenac) is an anti-inflammatory drug used to treat various diseases of the musculoskeletal system and other diseases. It is produced in Canada by Apotex Inc., Apotex/Vector-Pharm and in Russia by Apotex/Pharmavid.

Apo-Diclo belongs to the group of phenylacetic acid derivatives, acting as an inhibitor of cyclooxygenase, which leads to a decrease in the synthesis of prostaglandins - substances that cause inflammation, pain and increased body temperature.

The dosage form of Apo-Diclo is film-coated, enteric tablets containing 25 mg of diclofenac sodium. It is also produced in the form of suppositories and gels for external use.

Apo-Diclo is used to treat various diseases of the musculoskeletal system, such as rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatism, ankylosing spondylitis, degenerative diseases (osteoarthrosis deformans, osteochondrosis), lumbago, sciatica, neuralgia, myalgia, diseases of extra-articular tissues (tenosynovitis, bursitis, rheumatic lesions soft tissues), post-traumatic pain syndromes accompanied by inflammation, postoperative pain, acute attack of gout, primary dysmenorrhea, adnexitis, migraine attacks, renal and hepatic colic, infections of the ENT organs, residual effects of pneumonia.

In ophthalmology, Apo-Diclo is used for the treatment of non-infectious conjunctivitis, post-traumatic inflammation after penetrating and non-penetrating wounds of the eyeball, pain syndrome when using an excimer laser, during surgery for removal and implantation of the lens (pre- and postoperative prevention of miosis, cystoid edema of the optic nerve).

Despite its wide range of uses, Apo-Diclo has several contraindications. It is not recommended for use in case of hypersensitivity, hematopoietic disorders, stomach and duodenal ulcers, aspirin-induced bronchial asthma, as well as in the last trimester of pregnancy.

When using Apo-Diclo, side effects may occur, such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, depression of bone marrow function, headache, dizziness, blurred vision, and allergic reactions. Before starting to use Apo-Diclo, you should consult your doctor and strictly follow the recommendations on dosage and duration of treatment.
