Astalin: instructions for use, indications, contraindications and side effects

Astalin (international name - Salbutamol) is a bronchodilator used for the prevention and treatment of bronchospasm in bronchial asthma, as well as for the relief of symptoms of broncho-obstructive syndrome, such as chronic bronchitis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Astalin is manufactured by the Indian company Cipla Ltd. and is available in various dosage forms, including metered dose aerosol, inhalation capsules, inhalation solution, syrup and others. The active substance of the drug is Salbutamol.

Taking Astalin can lead to some side effects, such as dizziness, headache, tachycardia, arrhythmia, hypotension, myocardial ischemia, heart failure, cardiopathy, pulmonary edema, facial flushing, agitation, distal tremor, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, loss loss of appetite, difficulty urinating, sweating, increased levels of glucose and free fatty acids in the blood, hypokalemia, allergic reactions in the form of erythema, facial swelling, difficulty breathing, development of physical and mental drug dependence.

Astalin is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to Salbutamol, as well as in the presence of serious diseases such as coronary artery disease, arterial hypertension, arrhythmias, heart failure, diabetes mellitus, hyperthyroidism, pheochromocytoma, impaired renal function and in the first trimester of pregnancy.

The interaction of Astalin with other drugs can lead to an increase or decrease in their effect. For example, Astalin may increase the activity of CNS stimulants and thyroid hormones, and reduce the effectiveness of beta blockers and antihypertensive agents.

An overdose of Astalin may cause serious side effects, such as tachycardia, ventricular flutter, peripheral vasodilation, decreased blood pressure, increased cardiac output, hypoxemia, acidosis, hypokalemia, hyperglycemia, muscle tremors, headache, agitation, hallucinations and other psychotic disorders.

Taking high doses of Astalin can aggravate asthma attacks in bronchial asthma and cause the development of serious complications, so you must strictly follow your doctor's recommendations on the dosage and use of the drug.
