Biography Janet Tamaris Barton was born on September 23, 1984 in Williamsburg, Ohio. She had many siblings: she had a sister at birth, six older brothers, and three younger brothers until two of them died. The family belonged to the working class. Her father already had a doctorate in mathematics, so from early childhood Janet understood that he must belong to the upper class. However, she heard from her mother that the family belonged to a completely different class, so she began to notice early on the class inequality in society as a whole.
