Bizalsky-Mayer Tenoplasty

Bizalsky-Mayer tenoplasty is a surgical operation aimed at restoring tendon function. It was developed by the German orthopedist K. Bizalski and the American surgeon L. Mayer at the beginning of the 20th century.

In this surgery, the damaged or torn tendon is replaced with a graft from a donor tendon. The most commonly used graft is the peroneus longus tendon or the popliteus tendon.

Indications for Bizalski-Mayer tenoplasty are:

  1. Tendon rupture
  2. Congenital absence or developmental anomaly of the tendon
  3. Tendon stiffness after injury

The main advantages of this operation are reliable fixation of the graft, good restoration of the function of the damaged tendon and a low risk of complications.

Thus, Bizalski-Mayer tenoplasty can effectively restore the anatomy and function of damaged tendons in various injuries and diseases.

Bizal-Mayer tenoplasty is a surgical intervention to strengthen the muscles and tendons of the hands by transplanting bundles of tensor fascia of the quadriceps femoris. This operation was first used in the 70s of the 20th century. Indications: Drooping upper lip, drooping upper eyelid, forehead wrinkles, non-sagging corners of the eyes. Often, after 50 years, the skin of the face loses its elasticity, turgor, and tone. Therefore, some patients complain of changes in the shape of the head: they develop a protruding chin and cheekbones, and a “second” palate appears. Facial asymmetry occurs. And this cannot be allowed! Only doing exercises for the facial muscles will correct and prevent these cosmetic defects.
