Blepharospasm Senile

Blepharospasm is a nervous tic of the eyelid or oculomotor spasm. These are involuntary facial contractions of the facial muscles that occur in one or more eyelids. The peculiarity of this disorder is that it does not involve other facial muscles.

Blepharospasm most often affects people over 65 years of age. One of the first manifestations of the disease, unfortunately, is a deviation in the clouding of the lens of the eye, or in simple gaze. Scientists still cannot find an explanation for this phenomenon, although they have been carefully studying it for many years. By the way, it is usually women who suffer from blepharospasm, while it occurs half as often in men. In certain cases, the disease can lead to blindness.
