Bordet Cough Patch Method

Bordet cough plates (Bordetella pertussis) is a bacterium that causes whooping cough in humans. It is one of the most common pathogens of respiratory tract diseases. The Bordet cough plate method was developed by the Belgian bacteriologist Joseph Bordet in 1881 to diagnose whooping cough.

To determine the presence of Bordet cough plates, special plates are used on which a bacterial culture is applied. The plates are then placed in a thermostat for several hours to allow bacteria to begin to multiply. After this, the plates are placed on a glass slide and examined under a microscope.

The Bordet cough plate method has high sensitivity and specificity, which makes it possible to quickly and accurately diagnose whooping cough. However, to obtain reliable results, it is necessary to correctly conduct the study and interpret its results.
