Carbolong: an effective sorbent for treatment and poisoning

Carbolong, also known as activated carbon, is a pharmaceutical drug widely used in medicine to treat various diseases and poisonings. It is a powder containing the active substance - activated carbon. Carbolong is produced in Ukraine by Ecosorb and belongs to the group of sorbents.

Carbolong has sorption properties, that is, the ability to retain and remove various harmful substances and toxins from the body. It is used in the treatment of dyspepsia, which is accompanied by processes of putrefaction and fermentation in the intestines, as well as with increased acidity and hypersecretion of gastric juice. Carbolong is also effective in the treatment of diarrhea, acute poisoning and diseases accompanied by toxic syndrome, such as foodborne toxic infections, salmonellosis, dysentery and burn disease in the stage of toxemia and septicotoxemia.

Additionally, Carbolong is used in the complex treatment of chronic and viral hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, chronic renal failure, bronchial asthma, atopic dermatitis and preparation for x-ray examinations.

Despite its effectiveness, Carbolong has some contraindications. It is not recommended for hypersensitivity to the drug, ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract and gastric bleeding. Also, you should not take Carbolong simultaneously with antitoxic substances, the effect of which develops after absorption.

When using Carbolong, some side effects may occur, including dyspepsia, decreased absorption of fats, proteins, vitamins, hormones and other nutrients from the gastrointestinal tract. Possible side effects also include constipation or diarrhea, and black stools. With hemoperfusion through activated carbon, embolism, hemorrhage, hypocalcemia, hypoglycemia, hypothermia and hypotension may develop.

Carbolong may interact with other medications, reducing their absorption and effectiveness. It can also reduce the activity of substances inside the stomach.

An overdose of Carbolong has not been described, but it is not recommended to exceed the recommended dose indicated in the instructions.
