The cervical ligament of the dura mater (lat. ligamentum cervicale durae matris) is one of the ligaments of the dura mater. Located in the cervical spine.
Departs from the posterior surface of the body of the second cervical vertebra. It goes upward and anteriorly, attaching to the anterior arch of the atlas. It has a triangular shape.
Functional meaning:
-
Fixes the dura mater to the bones of the cervical spine, limiting its mobility when moving the neck.
-
Together with other cervical ligaments, it forms a sheath that protects the spinal cord at the level of the cervical spine.
-
Serves as a guide for surgical interventions in this area.
Thus, the cervical dural ligament plays an important role in fixing and protecting the spinal cord in the cervical spine.
