A chalazion is a round formation in the cartilage of the eyelid.
Etiology and pathogenesis
Chalazion occurs due to chronic proliferative inflammation of the meibomian gland and eyelid cartilage.
Clinical picture
With chalazion, a dense, painless formation in the thickness of the eyelids is determined, round in shape, the size of a small pea. The skin above it is raised and mobile. The conjunctiva is hyperemic and protrudes somewhat.
Diagnostics
When diagnosing a chalazion, it is necessary to exclude the possibility of a neoplasm of the eyelid.
Treatment
The main treatment for chalazion is surgery.
Forecast
With timely treatment, the prognosis for chalazion is favorable.
