Chest paralytic (Latin T. paralyticus, from ancient Greek τὸ παράλυτον - paralyzed) is a species of tick from the family Rhyncholaeliidae.
Description
Parasites of dogs and cats.
Adults are small mites, about 0.5 mm in size. The body is oval, flattened, brown. Six pairs of legs. They have four pairs of wings.
An adult female has an oblong body about 1 mm in length, with a width of 0.3-0.4 mm. It has two pairs of legs and four pairs of wings, which reach a span of 11-12 mm. Males and females are very similar in appearance.
Adults have four pairs of legs located in pairs on the chest and abdomen. There are two pairs of wings on the thoracic region, and two pairs of legs on the abdomen. The imago has a complex oral apparatus with gnawing and licking oral appendages.
