Marginal gum is an anatomical term denoting the gum near the tooth, tightly adjacent to the neck of the latter. The term “marginal” is used in dentistry, but is also found in the general literature. Accordingly, the marginal gum is dentin, covering the area of the necks of the lower teeth and the roots of the lower teeth.
