Determine if a person feels suffocated

• Ask: Can you breathe?
If the victim does not feel choking: • Ask the victim to cough.
If the victim feels suffocated:
Start performing abdominal thrusts
• Wrap your arms around the victim's waist. Make a fist with your hand. Press your thumb-side fist into the victim's area just above the navel and below the end of the victim's chest.
• Cover your fist with the palm of your other hand.
• Make a series of 4-5 sharp thrusts into the stomach from bottom to top, from front to inside.
• Each push is made in an attempt to remove the foreign object.
Continue the abdominal thrusts until
Bye:
• The foreign body will not be removed.
• The victim will not breathe or cough heavily.
• The victim loses consciousness: in this case, place the victim on the floor on his back (see first aid for conscious victims) and call an ambulance.
